Because it looks so good! Give your metal shipping container a charming finish with the addition of exterior cladding. Create the look you want with a choice of woods, horizontal or vertical clad, and even roofs and doors that complete the look.

Wood cladding from Containers Direct

Whether it's a simple storage unit, or a complete conversion, wood cladding can transform the appearance of a metal box into an attractive wood cabin. For rural locations and Greenfield sites, cladding can satisfy planning permission requirements, blend in with the beauty of its surroundings. If you are trading from your container it will look more professional and appealing to potential customers - and even become a talking point as interest in converting shipping containers continues to grow.

We are industry leading experts in producing high quality, visually appealing cladded shipping containers. We can clad any size shipping container, from 8ft upwards, and offer a wood matching service if you have special planning permission requirements. This has enabled a number of our clients permission to site a shipping container on land otherwise off-limits.

Our most popular products where clients opt for wood cladded containers are the MenuBox catering unit, the ModiBox office, especially when they are being used as a home office for the back garden, and other container conversions for the garden - from home gyms to garden rooms for relaxation, hobbies or socialising.

To cover all budgets we offer three standard types of wood cladding

rustic cladding Our 'Rustic' cladding is a rough sawn, white spruce cladding. The timber is tanalised to make it more durable and longer lasting. This is our budget cladding option, suitable for a wide range of applications.
clean cut cladding 'Clean Cut' cladding is the same as our Rustic option, but with one planed edge giving a smoother finish to your container. We would suggest this as a medium upgrade for customers looking for a more polished look for their shipping container.
seamless shiplap cladding The 'Shiplap' cladding is slotted together meaning no corrugation is visible, completely disguising the fact that there's a shipping container underneath! This gives a seamless appearance to your container, recommended for bespoke, high end conversions.

Our premium woods include Waney Edge, Siberian Larch and upon request we can finish off with wood staining for a natural colour finish.

Our case studies displayed above illustrate some of the most popular features available as optional extras to complete the wood cabin aesthetic, including:

Roof modifications - sloping roofs and living roofs

All these features look great on cladded shipping containers, and no one will spot there's a shipping container underneath!

Patio doors
