Cutting the container to size

We began by taking a 40ft shipping container, cutting down to 25ft, and fabricating a new end wall to complete the container. This end wall will also have the two circular apertures cut in.

Circular apertures

These are cut into the new end wall. Measuring 315mm in diameter, we used 50mm steel box section to construct these pieces. The holes will provide air side economising, an efficient cooling mechanism, whereby the top hole extracts hot air from the behind the server racks, while the bottom hole brings in cold air from the outside.

Ply Lining and electrics

We insulate the container with rockwool and use 12mm ply to line the container (including doors).

The electrics package includes:
  • Consumer unit

  • External hook up

  • 2 x 5ft strip lights

  • 8 x double sockets with 4 separate fused circuits

  • Split load 30mAmp RCD

  • The finished container

The container is repainted blue, and ready to be delivered.
