24FT CONTAINERS SECOND HAND
Take one 40ft container........... and cut into two pieces as the starting point for two new containers (one 24ft and one 16ft). We now have to complete the containers by welding on either new doors or a new end wall. As these new containers are going into the storage market, this gives us the opportunity to make adaptations that are not allowed on containers to be passed for shipping, but enhance the performance of the container as a storage unit. We start by offering alterative door types to the traditionally heavy shipping container door.
Please note cut down containers are not suitable for shipping, stacking or lifting when loaded. They can be modified upon request if these conditions are required.
Which door type matches your needs best? S1, S2, S3 or S4?The choice is yours so take a look at the differences and benefits of each product before you decide.
The S1 doorS1 containers offer a great alternative to the heavy corrugated steel shipping container door. Fabricated from flat steel panels instead, they are much easier to use, and therefore great for frequent use, or for schools and clubs where a variety of people may need access to the container (without having to call for the assistance of someone stronger). Security is not compromised by these doors, as a single locking arm secures the door, and a lockbox to prevent tampering with the lock is included with ALL our 24ft containers.
We can add a compressed door seal to S1 containers for a cost of £65 plus VAT
The S2 doorMany of our customers still prefer their containers with original shipping container doors left intact during the conversion process. We call these S2 containers and they have the benefit of a rubber seal to repel water ingress. S2 doors are most often requested by customers buying containers destined for building sites.
The S3 doorAt Containers Direct we offer a unique third option which combines the advantages of both types of door. We are lucky to have manufacturing facilities on site and have designed and manufactured a door which is both easy to use and is superior in quality. Although the appearance of S3 doors may differ slightly from container to container, they all share these characteristics:
- External rubber door seals
- Waist high handles
- Two locking arms on the right hand door only
- Shoot bolts on the left hand door
There is a supplement of £175 for S3 doors.
The S4 doorAnti vandal, galvanised steel roller shutter doors, with manual or electrical operation. At 8ft wide (the same size as standard container doors, they be fitted as an additional door, or a replacement for the original.
Cost for manual option £1900 plus VAT
(Please enquire for cost of electric option)

Personnel doors are the preferred door type for our portable site office units, and other conversions, such as offices, classrooms, workshops and equipment stores.
