Created as a pop-up bar for The Royal Highland Show, Scotland's biggest annual agricultural show in Edinburgh, the RHS began in 1822 and now attracts up to 190,000 visitors annually, with food and drink stalls competing for custom at the show. Our client, The Evolve Group, a creative design and branding company, asked us to provide this container conversion for their client, the Scottish Brewery Innis and Gunn,

A popular addition to our pop-up container bars is a rooftop platform, to create space for customers to enjoy their drinks from an interesting vantage point. This is accessed by an external staircase. Inside is fitted out with basic kitchen facilities and a roller shutter serving hatch with a drop-down counter attached.

Find out more about container roof platforms

We build our roof platforms from box-section steel and use Durbar anti-slip steel plate for the flooring. This helps prevent accidents, which in the case of a rooftop bar where the beer may be flowing freely, is an essential safety feature! This also applies to roof platforms and staircases on our conversions made for engineering and industry, where stacked containers are required and there is a risk of chemical spillages - or just the good old, treacherous British weather conditions.

Container roof platforms put extra weight on the container, therefore another safety feature we adhere to is only using shipping containers which have retained their original corner castings that provide additional strength. Aa an alternative to ISO containers, we can build a brand new container with these safety features integrated into the design. Read more about New Build containers, which can also be built extra-wide.

Our containers for all catering projects are based on our MenuBox® package, which offers a low-cost shipping container conversion, with standardised features for preparing and serving food and drink.
