The S4 Door - Roller Shutter Doors
A roller shutter door (ask for the S4 door) is offered as one of our comprehensive range of container door options. Made from fully welded galvanised steel, and lockable at both ends, these doors offer good protection against theft and vandalism, but are ideal for areas where space is at a premium and easy access is required.
Shutter box: inside or outside?
Depending upon your requirements, we can fit the roller shutter door so it is housed either inside or outside the container.
Please note, there is a £75 plus VAT surcharge for Option 2 and Option 3 roller shutters.
Option 1
Rolls up inside the container. This method leaves the door flush with the container, and looks neater from the outside. Please note it will reduce the door entry height down from 7ft 5in to 6ft, as the housing box takes up approximately 12 inches of space inside the container, with approximately 2 inches of roller shutter hanging below when open.
Option 2
Rolls up outside the container. This method has the shutter housing box outside the container, with the top of the housing box level with the top of the container. This reduces the door entry height to 6ft 3in, as the housing takes up approximately 12 inches of space, with approximately 2 inches of roller shutter hanging below when open.
Option 3
Rolls up outside the container. This method also has the shutter housing box outside the container, but it is positioned above the top of the container, which means the almost the full door entry height (7ft 3in) is retained.

Roller Shutter Upgrades
We can offer electric roller shutters for additional convenience which can be operated with either a fob or key. Our roller shutters can also be powder coated to your choice of colour, and we can add brushes and seals to your roller shutter to reduce noise levels and potential water ingress. Please Note
Due to the mechanics of roller shutter doors, S4 containers are not covered in our watertight guarantee. Although most containers are maintenance free, the S4 door type does require continuing maintenance to ensure the roller shutter housing remains sealed. Due to the moving parts and the nature of the sealant around the frame, customers are advised they will need to re-seal around the container frame every 3-6 months to avoid any water ingress. This includes sealing around the roller shutter housing. You may also need to adjust the tension on the springs, lubricate the plates behind the canopy, clear debris from channels, check electrical parts (where required) and lubricate the locks.
