Used shipping containers generally have over 10 years of service on shipping lines which results in considerable evidence of use, plenty of surface rust and knocks and dents. Containers Direct specialise in upcycling used shipping containers to give them new lease of life. The manufacturing process for a shipping container is very carbon intensive so the longer useful life we can give them, the better!
Once-Used Containers
New shipping containers, sometimes called once-used containers, are manufactured in factories in China and shipped to the UK with cargo inside. New containers are often the choice for projects where a longer lifespan is required.
The Build Process
Containers Direct supply 24 foot containers with S2 doors direct from our depots across the UK, to give our customers the most efficient and cost effective deliveries. Our depots are based at strategic locations including London, Southampton, Glasgow, Birmingham, Newport, Manchester and Felixstowe.Built by us - new doors and cut downs
Our 24 foot shipping containers are all built in our in-house fabrication depot. We take a 40ft shipping container and cut down to 24ft long, before adding new doors and walls from high gauge steel and matching corrugated steel panels. We can also modify 24ft shipping containers with a range of optional extras to either enhance your storage facility or convert the container into something else, such as a portable office, chemical store or pop up retail unit. 24 ft is roomy enough inside to work out of, but neat enough to fit into spaces too small for a traditional bricks and mortar buildings. And of course metal containers are portable, so they can be relocated when required. Modifications can be as simple as doors in the side, or as ambitious as ply lining on the inside and wood cladding on the outside. We want all our customers to have plenty of choice, so they get the right container that's fit for purposes, regardless of whether it's a full scale conversion or a simple 24 foot container for basic storage.

Converted
The 24ft is a good size "in between" size and is popular for container conversion projects, easily adapted to make a portable office, catering unit, retail outlet and much more. We carry out an extensive range of modifications for a wide variety of purposes.
Flat pack option
Flat pack containers come in three sizes, each of which can be joined together to give the right sized area of storage space that you require. As they are man portable in flat pack form, they are perfect for areas with difficult access too.
Bespoke sizes
As well as cutting containers down to any length, we offer varying width options. Need a unit wider than 8ft? We can make extra wide containers that are custom built to any width.
