A Wide Range of Optional Extras to Choose From

New shipping containers make ideal storage containers by providing high levels of security and protection from the elements. They are usually cheaper than conventional buildings, available a very short notice, and portable too, certainly a plus point when it comes to planning permission. Because shipping containers are made from very tough, rust retardant Corten steel, small scrapes and dents and water pooling on the roofs are insignificant to the functionality and life span of the container. Its Corten steel structure, also known as weathering steel, is manufactured for marine use and designed to surface rust to create a protective coating. However, despite the superior condition of a once-used shipping container, we often find our customers want to enhance the exterior or interior further. Containers Direct offer an industry leading range of optional extras designed to enhance your shipping container from ply lining or melamine lining the inside for a smart appearance and to eliminate condensation, or a simple exterior repaint.

Can I Have a Shipping Container Wider or Narrower than 8ft?

New shipping containers, also known as Once-Used shipping containers, are manufactured in a standard width of 8ft wide. This allows them to be transported easily across the world on cargo ships, stacked up to 8 high. If you purchase one of our new 20ft S2 containers, or a 40ft new container, these containers can be stacked or shipped with no trouble (but remember to ask us to check the CSC plate is still valid for shipping and ensure the unit is not a cut down!).

However, sometimes 8ft wide is simply not right. That's where our new build containers come in. Rather than importing containers, we manufacture containers in our own depot. That gives you more choice of width and height. You can choose from our SlimLine® range of narrow containers with widths available from 5ft to 7ft, or our WideLine® range of extra wide containers offering widths of up to 14ft. We've also developed products specifically for use as garages, with the CarTainer® being the most popular container garage in the UK.
