Shipping containers are so versatile, that the possibilities for modifications are vast. The basic structure of a strong, secure, long-lasting metal box lends itself well to a wide range of applications from safe, dry storage to transformation into a "new" building. The cost of these conversions range from around £50 to have a lock box fitted to secure the doors by protecting your padlock, a few hundred to spruce your container up with a repaint or fit an easy-opening door, to thousands to convert a shipping container into a something that is almost unrecognisable as a shipping container!

With so many variables involved in container conversions, including the changeable nature of the materials market and the endless combinations of modifications to choose from, it's impossible to quote exact figures.
