Find out about our modifications to container roofs, including platforms, living roofs and skylights.
You may think the roof of a container is just there to hold things together and keep the inside dry, but we offer a number of optional extras to make good use of the dead space above. Some of our roof modifications are for practical purposes, to make use of all the space a shipping container offers, or they can be purely for the aesthetic.
Roof platforms
Add a platform to the roof of your container bar or restaurant and you have an outdoor area for your customers to use. The elevation can improve the view, add to the maximum amount of customers you can accommodate and allow them to enjoy the fine weather and fresh air without spilling out into the surrounding area below. We converted a 20ft container with a roof platform for our client to use a pop-up cocktail bar for the festival circuit. They completed the platform by adding a grass deck to it!

Living roofs
Transform your container roof into an eco-friendly system by adding a living roof. Also known as a green roof, this is basically a container roof that is designed especially for growing plants and flowers. In conservation areas a living roof helps the container blend in with the natural surroundings and encourages bio-diversity. We can also construct a sloping roof on your container, which assists with rain water dispersal, and combined with wood cladding can transform your container into an attractive cabin.
Skylights
We can fit skylights into the roof of your container to bring in extra light without taking away wall space. Skylights create a light and airy feel inside the container, making it feel more open. Skylights are perfect for bespoke conversions, and units where maximum natural light is a benefit to working - for example inside an office.
