Shipping Container Classrooms

Introducing the StudyBox for schools - The Classroom Bubble. This is a product designed for schools to be used as classroom space in order to comply with government guidance to maintain social distancing within bubbles wherever possible, as well as being perfect as temporary classrooms during any construction or refurbishment work to existing classrooms. Shipping container classrooms allow schools and nurseries an economical and flexible way to extend the space available for teaching. The StudyBox is a classroom in a pod and is made largely from upcycling existing materials, making it eco-friendly as well as safe. Refurbished shipping containers represent great value for money, but we can also use new shipping containers if preferred.

The StudyBox is very easy to put together on site, utilising the unique joining up system designed in 2018 by Containers Direct with the assistance of a grant from the Government Research & Development (R&D) programme. However, we do offer a joining service if preferred.

Putting together the StudyBox

StudyBox shipping container classrooms are made by converting shipping containers and joining them up to give wider areas of space. We fit them with a standard range of basic features to make the ideal, clean, easy to maintain and functional teaching space.

We offer a range of additional features that enhance the function and appearance of the StudyBox. Shipping container classrooms can include adding carpet, providing toilets (either integrated or separate) or an on-site assembly service. Our customers' favourite options include:

Joining up shipping containers

This concept was pioneered by Containers Direct to answer the demand for wider spaces when using shipping container conversions. Shipping containers are built to a standard width of 8ft, which can be too narrow for some purposes. For details on the building process, see our page Joining Up Shipping Containers.

Our experience of joining up shipping containers is extensive and includes garages and office space, and work for charities, nature reserves and schools. For more details on this work, see our case studies below. We transport the units separately, where they can be joined up once on-site.

Flexible for repurposing

When social distancing in schools is no longer a requirement, or building works are completed, the StudyBox can still be an asset to schools. Simply use it for additional storage space within the school grounds, or turn it into a classroom for special activities such as music, crafts, cookery, etc. A shipping container classroom will always be an asset to a school.

If you are looking for a shipping container for simple storage, we sell a range of containers of all sizes, including 10ft shipping containers, 20ft shipping containers, 40ft shipping containers, and flat pack containers that are ideal for smaller spaces and tricky access. Ply lining can be added to any shipping container to combat condenstation.
