The Container

The basis of this conversion is a 10ft new build container. The container has a steel Durbar floor plate, which has a non-slip, raised pattern surface. As well as preventing slippage, it protects the timber floor of the container from spillages. The plate is seam welded to the floor.

Shelving

This is fabricated outside the container, and is designed to be removable, but bolted into the container for safety when in use.

Features:

  • Two tiers

  • Each shelf measures 1900mm x 800mm

  • Made from 3mm steel plate and 25mm box section

  • Reinforced through middle

  • Lip on outer edge

Tool Rack

Again, this is fabricated outside the container, and designed to be bolted into the container when in use.

Features:

  • Three compartments

  • Made from 10mm steel roundbar

  • Removable

  • Steel bolting plates

Steel Rod

We welded three rows of 10mm solid steel rod around the inside of the container, to secure the shelving unit and tool rack. Then the whole interior, including the furniture, was repainted grey.

Electrics

We installed lighting heads and dual voltage - 110v and 240v - external hook up.

The completed container

To finish, the exterior is repainted in ultramarine blue. The container is now ready to be delivered to our client, for use as a portable workshop on the railways.

The CAD drawings

This is a particularly detailed job, with specific requests for custom built shelving and racks, to be bolted in to place in the container. Therefore we produced two CAD drawings - one for the overall plan, and the other for the shelving designs.
