Our client, a major producer of recycled plastic products, required a container to house part of its processing system on its six acre recycling plant in Liverpool. This conversion is made using a 40ft high cube container, which is extra high, and we have been asked to take an unusual step by making a large entry point into the top of the container, to lower machinery into.

Special Features:

  • New 40ft high cube container

  • Grafotherm

  • Two personnel doors

  • Three 300mm louvered vents

  • Locking bars and lockbox and refitted at low level

  • Repainted outside in red

  • Painted inside in grey

  • 5m x 1.2m roof aperture with metal lid

Personnel doors

We cut two apertures into the side of the container in order to fit the frames for the personnel doors. The doors can then be fitted into the frames. Personnel doors are great for frequent pedestrian access.

Louvered vents

We cut apertures into the walls of the container, fit a steel frame, to which the vents can be attached. For more information see our page Shipping Container Vents

Roof aperture

We cut an aperture into the container roof, measuring 5m long by 1.2m wide. This will be used to lower an oversized machine down into the container, and a 10cm high metal removable lid will sit on top.

The lid is made from the piece we cut from the roof to make the aperture, and fitted into a frame we created for it. After checking the fit we repainted it to match the rest of the container.

Repainting

Before repainting the ceiling of the container is spray coated with Grafotherm, a treatment to slow down the formation of condensation. After this the inside of the container is painted grey, and the outside is repainted red.

The finished container

As a final request, our client asked us to take up the container floor, and leave and deliver the timber along with the container. The locking gear on the container end doors has been moved to the bottom, as once deliver this container will sit on a raised platform.
